Inside The Production Of Dua Lipa’s ‘Radical Optimism Tour’
At the heart of Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism Tour was a highly visual production built around movement.
We supplied a complete touring automation system designed to move scenic elements, lighting pods, stage lifts and Dua Lipa herself — safely, precisely and show after show.
“Everything had to move. And it had to move together.”
The production called for a complex automation setup with multiple moving elements operating across the full performance area.
Two large astrolabe LED rings, six lighting pods, a flying performance puck and an upstage lift all had to integrate seamlessly with lighting, video, lasers and show control.
For the automation team, the challenge was not simply movement. It was creating a system that was safe, precise, tourable and fast to deploy across an international production.
Engineered for Movement
The automation package combined proven MOVEKET technology with a specially adapted stage lift solution:
Moveket VMK-S 500 variable-speed hoists
Moveket V-Motion 40 E-drives
Moveket Expert-T III control
Moveket KES operating system
Specially modified M:LIFT 1020L stage lift
Separate Moveket Basic lift control
The two astrolabe rings measured approximately 8 and 5 metres in diameter and moved independently around each other to create a floating, three-dimensional visual effect above the stage.
Across the production, a total of 23 active hoists handled the astrolabes, the artist flying puck and six lighting pods.
Behind The Automation
From stage lifts and artist flying to scenic movement and touring efficiency, explore some of the technical elements behind the production.
Two large astrolabe LED rings became one of the tour’s most iconic visual features. Engineered to move seamlessly above the stage, they added scale, motion and a striking three-dimensional effect to the show design.
A dedicated flying system lifted Dua Lipa into the centre of the performance space. This created one of the production’s standout moments, turning automation into a visible part of the storytelling.
The complete automation package was designed for safe, efficient touring. From modular system components to practical setup and transport solutions, every part of the system was built to perform reliably from venue to venue.
The Result
Across the Radical Optimism Tour, automation became a central part of the production’s visual identity.
The system enabled scenic elements, lighting and artist movement to operate as one coordinated performance environment. At the same time, the entire package remained safe, modular and built for efficient international touring.
From flying Dua Lipa between moving LED structures to synchronising lighting pods across the arena, the automation helped turn an ambitious creative concept into a repeatable live show.
Complex movement. Precise control. Built for the road.
